Cafe L’Affare – Te Aro, Wellington

Cafe L’Affare –

The Place:

Cafe L’Affare is a great spot.  It has a funky vibe from the moment you walk in.  If you are feeling drab then I recommend you go here because within minutes you will feel alive in this iconic coffee age atmosphere.  The coffee is simply devine.  It smells good and tastes delicious. It is always busy in here but they always find you a table within minutes.  Most of the seating is inside but there are seats outside too.  They cater for kids here which is a bonus.

The Service:

Surprisingly, our service was less than average.  We were seated quickly and managed to get our coffee after about a 10 minute wait but then the waitress took 20 minutes to take our order (and this was only because we flagged her down).

The presentation:

As you can see from the photo the presentation was good.

  • The Montreal – was great
  • The eggs – were a bit overcooked which was disappointing.
  • The salmon – there was lots of Salmon and it was yummy and tasted fresh.
  • The bread – was tasty.
  • The hollandaise – the sauce was okay but nothing to jump for joy over.

Would we go again?

I would go again for the coffee.  From one Bene/Montreal ‘snob’ to another – I would give the Montreal a miss and try something else instead. This cafe is a spot I enjoy coming to and will continue to do so.
